Russian women like Russian men. If they could, they would prefer to marry a Russian man. Of course, a Russian woman is looking for a good husband, and many Russian men often do not make good husbands.


Russian society is very chauvinistic. Women usually do the housework and take care of the children. Because of economics, they usually have a job as well.


From a cultural standpoint, drinking is socially acceptable and many Russian men drink to excess, which can also affect their health. Many Russian men are like the old cartoon character of Andy Capp.


Some are lazy, alcoholic bums who let their wives do all the housework, plus bring home a paycheck, while they go out with their friends and drink and chase women. If their wives object, they give them a swat, and if they object too much, they leave.


Because of all the single and available women, Russian men are spoiled. Many women feel lucky to have a husband even if he is like the type just described.


After the age of thirty-five, it is virtually impossible for a Russian woman to find a husband. If they are divorced and have children, the same situation applies.


Many Russian women believe that Westerners make better husbands. Right or wrong, they believe that Westerners are more liberated than Russian men and will pitch in with more of the household tasks.


Many Russian women are attracted to American men because they are better groomed and wear cleaner clothes than Russian men. American men are more polite and genteel than Russian men. Many Russians appear impolite to Americans.


They don’t say please or thank you very often. The older generation of Russians has table manners that Americans are not used to. During the Communist years, manners were considered bourgeois and they fell out of favor.


Because of the death of so many men in the Stalinist purges and World War II, many Russian men were raised without a father. Many of them do not know how to function as a father and are minimally involved with raising their children.


Many Russian women believe that they will have more economic opportunity for themselves and for their children in Western countries than in Russia.


All the women in the world are looking for economic security. Why should Russian women be any different?

America is a nation of immigrants. Virtually all of the people who have immigrated to America were looking for a better life. They operated out of what Adam Smith called ‘enlightened self-interest.’ Russian women are no different.


This has been the reality of immigration to America from the very beginning. The Spanish traveled to the New World to find ‘the fountain of youth.’ The English followed them to the New World to find the ’streets paved with gold.’


The Irish left the Potato Famine behind for the chance of a new opportunity in America only to experience the Coffin Ships, cholera outbreaks, and signs stating ‘Irish need not apply.’


Prejudice against immigrants, including Russian women, is nothing new. They just happen to be the newest group of immigrants that are viewed with prejudice.

Men and women have and maintain two separate, distinct schools of thought. This comes down to more than biology and physiology, naturally. For example, men and women feel, register, and acknowledge pain differently. The two are further separated by factors such as mental health and emotional health, along with the cultural roles typically attributed to them. Gender, along with culture and environment, can also determine how a person deals with stress, depression, and a variety of other emotionally-connected problems and disorders. However, according to some recent studies, even the importance of emotional bonds over financial gain are processed differently by the two sides.

In a recent study, it was found that most people believe that women are more likely to choose family and sentimentality over professional ties and high-power positions. The study, conducted among a variety of college students, with an equal mix of male and female test subjects, showed otherwise. According to the study, most of the male students said that they preferred the emotional security of settling down with a family than the financial independence of having a high-powered job. This basically throws the old stereotype out the window, if the results are an accurate indication of how both genders really feel about the choice.

However, the researchers themselves point out a potential caveat to the results: the definition of a romantic relationship. That aspect of the study was not made clear, such that it is possible that the personal definitions swayed the results one way or another. There was a distinct possibility that, when asked the question, the male respondents simply considered sex without any commitments or emotional ties as being a “romantic relationship.” Other subjective definitions may have also affected the results, so the researchers are not entirely sure how to proceed. On one hand, the data is rather intriguing and puts a whole new light on gender views on emotional health versus financial security. On the other hand, the chance that this sort of study can never really be verified unless a definition for a “romantic relationship” is clearly and objectively defined is a problem.

The test was designed to measure certain reactions in the student body. It included goals such as physical fitness, financial stability, emotional fulfillment, and leisure time. These were ranked in importance before the subjects were asked whether or not they’d be willing to sacrifice any of them in favor of romance. Sixty-one percent of the male subjects and 51% of the female subjects answered in the affirmative, which contradicted the expectations of most of the people observing the study. According to the results, a number of men would be willing to take a “charming partner” over commonly held goals like having travel opportunities and job stability.

One thing that the researchers noted is that “romance” may not necessarily be defined in the same way by men and women. Just as some men may equate a sexual connection with “romance,” some of them might also see the word to mean the same thing that the average woman does. However, that does not automatically mean that everything a woman associates with “romance” is associated to it by men. Long-term commitment, family, and marriage were found to be outside the scope of the male definition of “romance,” according to the study.

Pregnant women also have to follow the appropriate serving recommendations, by talking to their health care provider about having the appropriate eating plan. Pregnant women also need to take close tabs on their serving portions, because they may be eating more than what they think.   

Daily Food Serving Guidelines To Follow

Women should be careful of what they eat, and how they eat during pregnancy. They need to remember that fatty foods like chips, cookies, doughnuts and sweets like sodas and candy do not give their baby the right amount of nutrition they actually need. Here is some interesting food serving guidelines to consider.  

- Pregnant women should consume at least six ounces of grains per day. An ounce of grains is equivalent to 1 cup ready-to-eat cereal, 1 small pancake, 1 slice bread and 1 small tortilla.

- 2 ½ cup serving of vegetables. A cup of vegetables is equivalent to 1 cup vegetable juice, 1 cup raw or cooked vegetables and 1 medium-baked potato.  

-  1 ½ cup of fruits. A daily serving of 1 ½ cup of fruits is equivalent to ½ cup of fruit, ¼ cup dried fruit, 16 grapes or ½ cup fresh, frozen or canned fruit.

- 3 cups of milk each day. This daily serving is equivalent to 1 cup yogurt, 1 ½ ounces natural cheese, 2 ounces processed cheese and 1 cup milk.  

- 5 ½ ounces of protein each day. This daily serving is equivalent to ¼ cup cooked dry beans, 1 egg, ½ cup nuts, 1 ounce of poultry, meat or fish, and a tablespoon peanut butter.

Apart from considering the daily serving guidelines mentioned above, pregnant women should also take regular doses of folic acid. Folic acid helps prevent serious birth defects and spinal cord defects. Women of child-bearing age need to take at least 40 micrograms of folic acid each day before and during pregnancy. Foods that are rich sources of folic acid include enriched grain products, green leafy vegetables, orange juice, beans and vitamin-fortified breakfast cereals.
